Profile of the President
Golden Valley Institute of Technology (GVIT) was started in the year 1986 at KGF by Dr. T. Thimmaiah Ph.D (London), IAS (Retd), as the founder president under the aegis of Golden Valley Educational Trust, with the sole purpose of imparting quality technical education to all and especially downtrodden people of this backward region. This trust also runs KGF First Grade College, KGF PU College & KGF Law College.
He was the Chairman of the Southern Regional Council for Technical Education for six years and was instrumental in granting permission to start new polytechnics and engineering colleges in the Southern States. He was the Vice President of ISTE for two terms. He was the Director of School of Mines, KGF.
He was the Director, Board of Governors, Regional Engineering College, Warrangal Andhra Pradesh. He served as the member of the Advisory committee of Regional Engineering College, Calicut, Kerala. He was a member of the Joint Board of Mining Education, New Delhi. Dr. T. Thimmaiah was the member Director of the Board of Management of BGML at KGF. He was responsible for development of in-house expertise in mine management. He served as the Deputy Commissioner of the Shimoga District and as the Additional Secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Horticulture, Govt. of Karnataka.
As the Chairman and Director, he was responsible for the rapid all-round development of Mysore Minerals Limited. He was also the Managing Director of Karnataka Dairy Development Corporation, during his tenure he established Mother Dairy to supply milk for the entire Bangalore city. A lesser-known fact of Dr.T. Thimmaiah is that he was a good cricket player and has represented Mysore in Ranji Trophy and played against visiting teams viz., M.C.C., West Indies, Australia and Sri Lanka.

Profile of the Vice-President

Sri T. Venkat Vardhan is the Chairman and Managing Director of India's premier event management company, DNA Networks Pvt. Ltd. His business has enabled him to interact with the best in the music industry and work with global artists to develop the Indian market.
T. Venkat Vardhan is the Grandson of the erstwhile National Leader and Former Chief Minister of Karnataka Shri. Kengal Hanumanthaiya, who was well known for his pivotal role for the unification of Karnataka State. The monumental landmark Vidhana Soudha was his vision and built in his reign.
T. Venkat Vardhan is an avid sportsman and has played shuttle badminton at the State and National level, was the State Champion in 1980.
Significant highlights in his endeavour, in the field of event management has lead to his nomination as the President of the Event Management Association of India, under the aegis of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). He is also on various National entertainment committees representing the live music industry.
He has brought in famous international icons such as the Rolling Stones, Sir. Elton John, Roger Waters, Bryan Adams amongst a host of others over the past two decades to India. He has played a pivotal role at the National level by integrating media, television and live entertainment into one of the most effective marketing tools for advertisers.
With his vast experience in such diverse fields, Sri T. Venkat Vardhan, as the Vice President of the Golden Valley Educational Trust (GVET) is giving impetus for the all round development of the Golden Valley Institute of Technology and like his father Dr. T. Thimmaiah, President of GVET, has dedicated himself to make GVIT one of the best Institutions in Karnataka.

Profile of the Principal
Dr.Syed Ariff obtained his Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from Gulbarga University. He obtained his Masters degree and Doctoral degree from University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE), Bangalore University, Bangalore. He has guided several under graduate and postgraduate projects and at present he is guiding two doctoral projects. He has to his credit many technical publications in national and international journals & conferences. He is a member of many prestigious professional bodies like Indian Institute of Metals, Indian Institute of Welding, Institute of Engineers (India) & Indian Society for Technical Education. He joined this college as a lecturer in the dept. of Mining Engineering in 1988, worked in different capacities before assuming the present post as Principal.

The College
The college is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), in Karnataka and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
At present the college offers degree courses in Engineering in the following Branches
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electronics and Communication Engineering
- Computer Science and Engineering
- Information Science and Engineering
- Electrical and Electronics Engineering
- Mining Engineering.

Admission and Academic Features
The course is open to the students who have passed II P.U.C / 12th std. or equivalent exam with Physics and Mathematics along with chemistry / biotechnology / computer science / electronics as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study. Students should have obtained at least 35% Marks 40% incase of SC/ST & OBC in the subjects. Diploma 45% Students are eligible to join 3rd Semester directly through Common Entrance Test (CET) to the appropriate Engineering Courses. The seats are allotted on the basis of the CET conducted by the Government of Karnataka.
Foreign nationals and NRI students are admitted, subject to regulations set by the Govt. of India. They must hold valid VISA and pay the fees prescribed by the Government.
Management quota Seats are also allotted by CET cell for Karnataka & Non-Karnataka Students. There is no scope for students to change the branch once allotted. The fee structure for the students is as prescribed by the Government from time to time. The application forms and the prospectus can be obtained from the college office on payment of the prescribed fee.
All courses are run as per the syllabi of VTU and are of eight semesters (4 Years) duration, each semester lasting 16 weeks. Examinations are held at the end of each semester. As per the University regulations, the internal assessment is based on tests, for theory, continuous evaluation for practical & other subjects.

Attendance & Discipline
As per the VTU norms, the students should have a minimum attendance of 85% in each subject. Students not satisfying this criterion are not permitted to take up the semester examination & they have to repeat the entire semester.
There is a discipline committee, which monitors the student’s day-to-day behaviour.
The students are required to behave in a responsible and dignified manner. Any unseemly behaviour is nipped in the bud. Smoking and taking intoxicating drinks, drugs are prohibited. Indulging in these undesirable habits will be severely dealt with, which could lead the students being expelled from the college. Ragging is totally prohibited. Anyone found indulging in the act would be dealt under IPC.

Scholarships
Meritorious students are offered scholarships from State Government as per norms. SC/ST students get aid from State Government as per norms and also in the form of books etc. Government of India scholarships, National Merit scholarship, Loan scholarship, Ex-service men scholarship, Scholarship from Jindal Group are also available for students.

Performance and Results
Students of the college have been performing creditably in all the University examinations. The final year results are consistently good (above 100% success) in all the branches, a few students being placed among the University ranks.
Most of the students passing out of the postals of the college are either well placed or have recurred admission for higher studies in India & abroad.
The progress reports students in being sent to the parents (every semester).
